A Paper Tiger

i”ve grown very tired of and frustrated with the mindset that God purposefully causes or “allows” accidents/injuries/tragedies etc in lives to make us “slow down,” “consider our path,” “bring us closer to Him,” or any other reason you can think of.

God is smart. He can think of a better way to get you to slow down than breaking your leg. And if you really believe that He will do those things to you if “necessary,” then you really do need to slow down and take some time get to know your Father better. Your loving dad, who adopted you into His family and made you a co-heir with Jesus, doesn’t go around crashing cars or leveling houses with storms or causing you to trip over that rock.

He’s smarter and nicer than that.

While there are lessons to be learned from bad experiences, there are other ways to learn those lessons too. God sent us a pretty good teacher, Himself (Holy Spirit), and if we’d take the time to be taught, we’d learn a lot. God gave us a book and a teacher, like any good school, and it would be smart of us to use them both.
